DTL is probably the simplest of all the main disciplines to learn. That doesn’t mean it is easy, all clay target shooting requires total concentration, dedication and the will to succeed.
Keeping it in its basic form all the targets are ‘going away birds’ they leave the trap house, which is slightly less than 15 metres in front of 5 shooters who are positioned on ‘stands or pegs’ as shown in the diagram above.
The trap oscillates from side to side and when a target is called for it will be released at a random angle within a set maximum arc, the height will remain constant (wind permitting).
